A Look at Broadway’s Ups and Downs during the week

Broadway press covered the story that Diana DeGarmo (of American Idol fame) tweeted about starring in the 9 to 5 tour, prior to any press release of that announcement. In other confirmed news, Diana is enjoying Lipton Soup, Ben & Jerry’s and Listening to Parrish-Hundley’s new song on Myspace. Alert the press!

A new HBO series called The Miraculous Year, according to press notes is about a “manipulative, self-indulgent and wildly self-destructive Broadway composer.” Stephen Sondheim, whom the character is thought to resemble, has not commented publicly. Maybe that’s because the show’s name was changed from its original title, Everyday a Little Death.

Abraham Lincoln’s Big Gay Dance Party began its limited run on Theater Row this week. If this show transfers, we hope The Booth Theatre is not an option.

Nintendo Wii’s Dance on Broadway game teaches adults and kids alike how to Dance to popular Broadway songs like All That Jazz, You Can’t Stop the Beat, and Fame, just like they do on stage. For an extra $2.95 Hunter Foster will come to your home and teach you himself.
