Allow us to introduce you to Epstein and Hassan, otherwise known as The Black and The Jew Comedy Hour, and the website we just created for them. You can subscribe to their podcast on Itunes there and see where they’ll be performing live.

Aren’t those photographs wonderful? These two are hilarious, edgy and, in the way of all great comedy and social commentary, their humor is informed by a craftily observant eye on the universal experience. Think George Carlin. Think Lenny Bruce. Plus, spend five minutes with them and you’ll see they are in loooove, which adds a wonderfully gentle underpinning to their razory repartee.

Have you seen the new skittles site?

Skittles made a widget at the corner of the site, and built the navigation around that. This menu-overlay box allows the user to interface with their already existing social networks, thus allowing for the candy brand to spread through the normal daily actions of the user. It’s working, I love skittles, and I totally made it a fan on my facebook.

Instead of photos, it directs to their Flickr page. They hooked ‘Chatter’ to Twitter. Instead of the normal everyday about page, they hooked it to Wikipedia. It’s a social networking rainbow!

There are still some quirks to this campaign. The menu overlay blocks a lot of the content on my smaller laptop screen. Also, originally they used the homepage as their twitter search, but everyone was using it as a way to knock the brand (haters) so they switched it to their Facebook fan page. This comes with the territory when you allow anonymous users to run the content of your website.

Overall, it’s a lesson in how important the big sites (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and Wikipedia) are to major brands and how they will continue to change the way we market.

We just launched a redesigned and re-structured web presence for the Cherry Lane Theatre. This marks the end of the first phase of development (phase 2 will involve completing a site-wide CMS as well as the implementation of a new, cohesive branding message that will tie together the various elements of the Cherry Lane identity and community), and is a great point on which to head off for the holiday break, if you ask me.

We’re happy with how things have turned out so far, and are looking forward to a fabulous new year with some exciting platforms and projects in store. Stay tuned.

Perhaps my favorite—though they’re all great (and true!)—is this:

AMC JUST launched the mini-site for Vanities the Musical (Kevin, you did an amazing job!) This all happened while I had the extreme pleasure of seeing the very first presentation of this awesome show yesterday. Jaisen, Laurie and I went to the Ripley Grier Studios to see the rehearsals and tape interviews (PS. Have you been to Ripley Grier? It’s AMAZING! I ran into Charlotte d’Amboise who complimented me on my outfit!) We were armed with our video cameras, lights and smiles ready to interview the cast and creatives for a video webcast. It was a riot! The girls are sugar and everyone on the show is twice as nice. Confession: I have women crushes on the three girls. They are my new best friends forever and ever glittery pony pops Amen! (They just don’t know it yet!)

Lauren Kennedy. Go TIGERS! Photo by Chris Owyoung.

I’m so jazzed for this show and there’s going to be a lot we have to do: social networking, video, games, connecting…I’ll keep you updated on the progress. Meanwhile, check out the rich history, bios and sign-up for the mailing list on VanitiestheMusical.com.
